Hey furiends (pun intended), my name is João Ladeira (aka John Ladder) and I’m the developer and game designer of The Fur in Me (TFIM), an upcoming PC platform game.
I would like to start by thanking you for being here. It’s been quite some years of struggling to make this dream come true but I feel that everyday that passes, I’m closer and closer. So, thank you for your interest in my dream and I hope that you have a wonderful and FUN time with it =)
For those that came from other social media directly into this post, I would like to start by telling you what The Fur in Me is.
What is TFIM?
The Fur in Me is a 2D single-player platform adventure featuring color based mechanics, beautiful 4k visuals and rich storytelling.
You play as a young member of the Fur race on a journey home who finds out his land has been taken by the evil Furbats. It’s up to you to defeat them and save the day!
Or is it?
Featuring
- Up to 6 different colors that will help you in your journey
- Around 300 challenges to overcome, all color related
- 30 levels filled with danger, as you venture through mountains, caves, forests, beaches and much more in amazing 4k visuals
- 16 levels of difficulty that can either make this journey a cakewalk or an absolute nightmare (and I really mean it)
- A beautiful and original soundtrack
- A deep story told through over 100 detailed cartoon images
- Last, but not least, a respect for player’s time
Why the Website?
This website is the place where my game calls home. When you are home, you feel safe, you feel like you can be yourself and, inside those walls, every little object tells something about you. In the same way, this website is the place where you will learn everything about TFIM. Why it was created, who created it, when did the dream start, what the actual dream is and where it is going.
The blog posts will be presented in the form of a timeline. I will start by introducing myself and then I will go through the prototype phase, alpha development, the other team members and so on, as I tell the story of TFIM.
Social Media
The Fur in Me is present in other social media pages (check the icons at the bottom of the page). Below I will explain to you in which ones and their content:

Pay attention to our Instagram and Facebook pages!
Every once in a while, I will create a contest where you will get the chance to win a STEAM KEY! You just have to answer a simple question and, if Lady Luck is on your side, it’s all yours 😀
Where to?
Nowadays, specially for indie developers, marketing is everything. Even if this was the best game ever, without marketing, it would probably fail.
My main objective at the moment is to share the game everywhere, which is why I created this website and why I’m on so many social media pages.
The game is almost done. What is not completely finished, is the art. Regarding it, we have the first 3 levels, all UI and 7 story images. In the next months I intend to launch an Indiegogo campaign in order to fund the rest of the art that is missing.
After that, I will keep on sharing content and finishing development to launch on Steam.
I also intend to launch the game on other platforms like Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Series S, X, Ps4, Ps5, and hopefully Android and IOS.
Why a Demo?
I read some reports that say that releasing the demo affects your sales. Although that may be true in some cases, I’m a gamer that likes to try something before buying it. I believe every game should have a demo, whether it’s just the first level or around 30 mins to play. Even if we wait for the game to launch and see other players streaming it, the best way to ensure we like the game, is to play it.
That is the first reason for releasing a demo. The other reasons, which are as important as the first one:
- Feedback: I can check if people are enjoying my game and, if not, I can thing about what I can change to make it better
- Tests: the demo can reach a lot of people, which can help me find bugs, performance issues etc
- Awareness: by releasing the demo and sharing it in social media and sending it to streamers, the game becomes better known by a lot of people, possibly resulting in more Wishlists. Like I said above, marketing is everything for an indie developer
Support Us!
It is really, really, really important if you can support us on our Indiegogo campaign, when it launches. If you enjoyed the demo and want to play more challenges and learn the true tale of The Fur in Me, please, support our Indiegogo campaign, it means the world to us!
